PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi: Eligibility, How to Register, e-KYC and Check Your Payment Status
Everything about PM-KISAN: the ₹6,000 a year benefit, who is eligible and who is excluded, how to register, the mandatory e-KYC, how to check your installment status and what to do if payment is stuck.
PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) is a central government scheme that gives eligible farmer families ₹6,000 a year to help with farming and household needs. The money is sent directly to the farmer’s bank account in three installments of ₹2,000. This guide explains who can get it, how to register, how to complete the compulsory e-KYC and how to check your payment.
The key points
- The benefit is ₹6,000 a year per eligible family, paid as three installments of ₹2,000, roughly every four months.
- The money goes straight to your bank account (direct benefit transfer). You pay nothing to get it.
- e-KYC is compulsory. Without it, installments can stop.
- Your bank account must be linked to your Aadhaar.
- The most recent installment we could confirm, the 23rd, was released on 20 June 2026. The government announces each date, so check the official site.
Who is eligible?
- A farmer family (husband, wife and minor children) that owns cultivable land according to state land records.
- The land must be in the name of the farmer in the revenue records.
- There is no minimum or maximum land size.
Who is not eligible?
- Institutional landholders.
- Families in which a member holds, or held, a constitutional post, such as a minister, MP or MLA, or a mayor.
- Serving or retired government employees, except multi-tasking staff and Group D, and pensioners getting ₹10,000 or more a month.
- Income tax payers in the last assessment year.
- Doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects who practise and are registered with professional bodies.
A person who is not eligible but takes the money may be asked to return it, so do not apply if you fall in an excluded group.
How to register
Keep your Aadhaar, mobile number linked to Aadhaar, bank account number with IFSC, and land details (khasra/khatauni or equivalent) ready. Some states also need a Farmer ID from the state’s farmer registry. If your state has this rule, register for it first or ask your local agriculture office.
- Open the official site pmkisan.gov.in and go to “Farmers Corner”, then “New Farmer Registration”.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, state and the captcha, and get the OTP.
- Fill in your personal, bank and land details exactly as in your records, and submit.
- Your application goes to your state for verification. This can take some time.
- If you prefer, visit a Common Service Centre (CSC), your Patwari or the local agriculture office, who can register you for you.
How to do e-KYC
- OTP e-KYC: on pmkisan.gov.in open “eKYC” in Farmers Corner, enter your Aadhaar and the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile.
- Face authentication: use the official PM-KISAN mobile app to verify with your face.
- Biometric: if the above do not work, visit a CSC and complete fingerprint e-KYC.
How to check your status
- Go to pmkisan.gov.in and open “Know Your Status” or “Beneficiary Status” in Farmers Corner.
- Enter your registration number or mobile number and the captcha.
- You can see which installments were paid, and whether anything is pending such as e-KYC, land seeding or bank (Aadhaar) verification.
You can also look for an SMS and for a credit in your bank statement. You can also check the “Beneficiary List” for your village.
If your installment is stuck
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| e-KYC pending | Complete it by OTP, face authentication or at a CSC. |
| Bank account not linked to Aadhaar, or not active for DBT | Visit your bank and ask them to link Aadhaar and enable direct benefit transfer. |
| Name or Aadhaar details do not match | Correct the details on the PM-KISAN site under “Edit Aadhaar Details”, or fix your Aadhaar. See our Aadhaar guide. |
| Land records not updated | Contact your Patwari or revenue office to update the land record in your name. |
| Application with state for verification | Ask the local agriculture officer or nodal officer to approve it. |
PM-KISAN helpline: 155261 or 011-24300606. Be careful of anyone who asks for money, an OTP or a link to “release” your installment. Use only pmkisan.gov.in and the official app.
