PM Kisan e-KYC: 3 Ways to Complete It (OTP, CSC and Face Scan), Step by Step
How to complete PM-KISAN e-KYC yourself with OTP, at a Common Service Centre with your fingerprint, or with a face scan in the mobile app, and how to check that it worked.

The short version
PM-KISAN pays eligible farmer families ₹6,000 a year in three equal instalments, sent by direct bank transfer. To keep receiving it you need e-KYC, an Aadhaar-based identity check. There are three ways to do it. Choose the one that fits your phone and situation.
| Method | Where | What you need | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. OTP | PM-KISAN website or mobile app, from home | Aadhaar number and a mobile number linked to that Aadhaar | Free |
| 2. Fingerprint (biometric) | Nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or State Seva Kendra | Aadhaar card and the Aadhaar-linked mobile number | ₹15 convenience fee |
| 3. Face scan | PM-KISAN mobile app | Smartphone, PM-KISAN app, Aadhaar Face RD app, your PM-KISAN registered mobile number | Free |
Which method should you use?
- Your Aadhaar mobile number is active and with you: use OTP. It is the fastest.
- Your Aadhaar is not linked to a working mobile number: go to a CSC for the fingerprint method, or first update your number. See our Aadhaar guide.
- OTP does not work, but you have a smartphone: try the face scan in the mobile app.
- No smartphone or not comfortable with apps: go to the CSC.
Method 1: OTP e-KYC
- Open the official PM-KISAN website, pmkisan.gov.in, or the PM-KISAN mobile app.
- Tap or click e-KYC at the top right.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and submit.
- Enter the OTP that arrives on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Method 2: fingerprint e-KYC at a CSC
- Visit the nearest Common Service Centre or State Seva Kendra. You can find CSCs on the CSC locator at locator.csccloud.in.
- Carry your Aadhaar card and your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- The operator helps you complete the Aadhaar fingerprint check.
- A convenience fee of ₹15 applies. Ask for a receipt.
Method 3: face scan e-KYC in the app
- Install two apps from the Google Play Store: the PM-KISAN app and the Aadhaar Face RD app.
- Open the PM-KISAN app and log in with your registered mobile number.
- Go to the beneficiary status page.
- If it shows e-KYC as No, tap e-KYC, enter your Aadhaar number, and give consent for the face scan.
- Complete the face scan. Your e-KYC is then done.
How to check that it worked
The status appears on the beneficiary status page within 24 hours of completing e-KYC, whichever method you used. You can also check through the KYS module on the PM-KISAN portal. The official note describes an AI chatbot called Kisan-eMitra that can help too.
Common problems and what to do
- OTP does not arrive. The mobile number is probably not linked to your Aadhaar. Use the CSC method, or update the number first.
- Fingerprint does not match at the CSC. Fingerprints can be worn from farm work. Ask the operator to retry, and try another finger or the face scan.
- Status still shows No after a day. Wait 24 hours, then check again. If it still shows No, repeat the e-KYC or visit the CSC.
- Someone asks for money beyond the ₹15 fee. Do not pay. Complain to the CSC’s district manager or your local agriculture office.
- A link or call asks for your OTP, bank PIN or card details. It is a fraud. e-KYC never needs your bank PIN.
Tips so the instalment is not delayed
- Make sure your bank account is linked to Aadhaar, since the money is sent to an Aadhaar-seeded account.
- Keep your mobile number and Aadhaar details correct and the same everywhere.
- Do the e-KYC before the next instalment is due, not after.
Frequently asked questions
Is e-KYC free? The OTP and face scan methods are free. The CSC fingerprint method has a ₹15 convenience fee.
Do I need to do it every year? The official note gives no yearly requirement. Check your status page, and redo it only if it shows No.
Is there a last date? The official note does not state a deadline. Do it soon, because pending e-KYC can hold up your instalment.
Can my family member do it for me? The check needs your own Aadhaar OTP, fingerprint or face. At a CSC you must be present yourself.
